Backed by TV personality Kevin O’Leary, DeFi platform WonderFi Technologies has agreed to buy Canadian cryptocurrency exchange Coinberry. This is stated in the press release.
The deal is valued at about $30.3 million. The parties plan to close it in the second quarter of 2022.
WonderFi’s goal is to strengthen its presence in Canada. Previously, the project acquired the local trading platform Bitbuy – now the team is expanding this brand in Australia and plans to expand to the US by the end of the year.
WonderFi strategic investor Kevin O’Leary called the team’s purchases “extremely important”. In his opinion, this speaks of the foresight of the platform’s plans.
Recall that in August 2021, Coinberry became one of the regulated crypto exchanges, which were banned by the Ontario Securities Commission from working with the USDT stablecoin from Tether.
