Russian power engineers talked about the fight against underground miners

The North Caucasus office of Rosseti in the middle of this week spoke about the results of the fight against underground miners in 2019-2020. The press center of the company noted that 35 cases of theft of electricity by citizens engaged in crypto mining were suppressed in two years. Mining farms have stolen more than 230 million rubles of electricity in total. Dagestan topped the rating of the North Caucasus regions in terms of the scale of underground mining. In this republic, power engineers discovered 24 mining farms, the damage from which amounted to almost 90.5 million rubles. Ingushetia took the second place. In this region, power engineers, together with law enforcement officers, discovered seven farms, which caused damage in the amount of up to 138 million rubles. Chechnya closes the top three, local miners stole electricity worth up to 1.4 million rubles, according to the company’s report. Oleg Solodovnik, who holds the post of deputy director for security in the North Caucasus office of Rosseti, stressed that power engineers are now more actively cooperating with law enforcement agencies. Thanks to this partnership, the company was able to tighten control over its networks and reduce the scale of electricity theft.
